RVMI 1.5.3 Not Compatible with SP3 Build 5508

Hi Siginet, I just tried to install a slipstreamed copy of Windows in VMware6 and it quits with the message "KBDHID.SYS in the SourceDiskFiles section of the INF is missing or corrupt. Setup cannot continue" during text mode setup.

I used a clean Corporate version of XP SP2, and used the Optimize System Files on the image after slipstreaming SP3.

This Error does not happen if you do not use Optimize System Files.

This also happens with the RTM 5512.

Hmmm... that sounds very odd. I don't think it would be caused by the changes from 1.5.1 and 1.5.3. Please try again and let me know what you find out.

OK, I dont know if someone else can reproduce the error. Here's my log files . Fİrst two log files are created by RVMi 1.5.3 and rest is RVMi 1.5.1. (I've found a copy of 1.5.1)

If you check my log files attached, you'll notice this with RVMi 1.5.3:
17:52:22 - Total Integration Time = 457 SecondsBut with same source with RVMi 1.5.1:
00:03:46 - Total Integration Time = 1289 SecondsThat may be because of driver.cab repacking but that driver.cab copy belongs to same update pack release of mine. If its not verified there may be errors.

I'll do more test later again.

Can you try the integration with driver.cab caching off? See if it is ok if it is off. Or delete the cache and try to make a new cache.

I also notice that it is seeing your Windows disk as SP2 not SP3.

i reintegrate often... between 2 'profiles' but over the same rvm update pack version..... when and when should i not use cache?

say i use -cache ... will that erase the cache? so that when i use +cache again, itll be on fresh cache

If you are using the exact same updatepack you should not ever have a problem with cache. Really you should never have a problem... but I have heard on rare circumstances of people having an issue I can not reproduce. In a later release I plan on changing the method the integrator uses to cache.. so instead of cacheing accourding to type and servicepack it will cache according to driver.cab original md5hash. So if the md5hash of the source driverpack has a matching cache then it is used.

Edit: I think I found what you are talking about biatche. Basically when you do an integration and then you keep the integrator open and start another one it looks like the cache fails. But if you close the integrator and re open it after an integration then it is successful. I am gonna do some more tests to verify. If it is doing this it should be rather simple to fix. ;)

what changes files in driver.cab? just updatepack? what about directx addon and so on... or those bootlogo files

It is very rare for an addon to change driver.cab. But the integrator does detect if an addon moves files into driver.cab. so it will verify it if you use that addon again or fail verification if you don't. ;)

Umm, things got complicated here. The switchless exe files (Java6u6.exe -->kels, vmware6tools.exe -->kels) did NOT added to svcpack and svcpack.inf :(
Will test again.

Edit: There is no sp3 for turkish yet :)

but cannot solve another problem:
previosly no any problem. one month ago no problem. now I have problem with integration.

if I integrate ANY addon than during Copy Files in GUI setup phase I recieve message - cannot find file NAPCLIENTPROV.MOF (this is uncompressed name of file napprov.mo_)!!!!!!!!!!!

if I press Cancel - ALL files cannot copy and I recieve BAD install.

in unnantended install - Cancel "pressed" automaticaly.

Yes I have confirmed the issue with SP3 RTM. So... it looks like I need to find out why it has a problem. For some reason it is not adding the kbdhis.sys file to the [SourceDisksFiles] section of txtsetup.sif. I will try to fix this issue asap. ;)

This is why Microsoft don't recommend applying SP3 to MCE2005. From what I hear, they wont guarantee the results.

I have used the latest nLite to simply make an unattended install, and that gives no errors. I wont be integrating anything until the RVMI is updated.

As far as your error is concerned AndreyPopov, Just point the installer at C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem and it will find your missing file.

when the MIXED destination dirs 1 and 100 - then problem appear.

The errors posted by me on post number 2+4+11 can be bcause of a hardware error (like ram) or maybe because of system error. My system crashed 2 days ago with data loss. :(
I've setup a new system now, but havent tried integration again.
Will report back when i do more tests.

I have already done multiple installs using RVMi and the WMP slipstreamer and have yet to get ANY errors like this!

Of course I dumped all but 1 of the WMP 11 hotfixes but I can definatly say this error is not caused by the slipstreamer.

This error is being caused by files not being properly modifyPE'd or non-digitally signed files..

Thanks for the report Kel. I don't think it is a non modpe'ed problem though.

I have'nt had more time to test though. So far whenever I have disabled the "Optimize System Files" option I haven't had any issues. I still need to do some more tests though.

Very odd that SP3 would cause an issue like this.
