Cannot get oemscan to work with Dell

I am a "self-made" computer guy and I guess that puts me in the noob column when it comes to this stuff. I have a friend who I am reformatting a Dell for and for the first time I have not been been able to get the key on the box to work.

So I am not at the mercy of this program and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to make it work. I got the key off of the original system with magic jelly bean, I have the B6F0EEFD files, but I just cannot seem to find any kind of info anywhere that speaks in a language I can understand to make this work.

I went here (http://www.siginetsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=276) and it said to:

you just need to add the oembios.* files into the svcpack\HPQ and svcpack\pavilion directories.

CD4E1902 FileSet goes in HPQ
06D652A4 FileSet goes in Pavilion

Inside the SVCPACK\HPQ\OSType.ini and SVCPACK\Pavilion\OSType.ini file you will need to edit:

The words just made me feel at ease so I did those things, used ryan's integrator to integrate, and (drum roll please)........

nothing.

I have been searching for hours and cannot find anything that makes any sense at all.

If someone will please write instructions that make sense to someone like me, I would be extremely appreciative.

I finally did figure this out on my own. I went here (http://www.siginetsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52) to get version 1.3 which had a download for Dell. I simply compared that with version 1.7beta and replaced the HP stuff with the Dell stuff and it worked even with SP3 though I did have to rerun it after updating to SP3.
