OEMScan was made to accomplish the same thing as The OEM ACT that I wrote but OEMScan is actually better and more complete. So I asked the author of oem scan if he would mind me making some Integrator addons to share with other to help simplify users adding it to their disks. xehqter gave me permission to do so.

You can read about oemscan here:
http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=82638

Here are some addons I put together. As you will see... they are pretty easy to make.

OEMScan v 1.3 was just released... Seems like it fixes a few important probs

Will your extensions work if i just use your 1.21 ones, then replace the .exe that results on the disk?

If so, i'll go ahead and upgrade all of yours and resubmit them for you, if you'd like

They should work fine with the new exe. I just released the 1.21 torrents too lol. If you can resubmit them for 1.3 that'd be great cause I don't have access to my home computer at the moment.

I updated all download links to use the 1.3 version of oemscan. ;)

I still need to update the torrent files though. ;)

As a buisness owner who reinstalls windows constantly for customers this will save me time and energy! Thank you!

One thing I noticed was I did not see a package installer for acer notebooks. I currently own an acer notebook, do you need the oembios files or any other info to make an add on for this as well?

Again thank you!

You're very welcome! :D

I have the files... but I haven't made an addon for it because I haven't needed it myself yet. I was kinda hoping other members would submit addons they have created. ;)

hey siginet, I've got a few questions that I'd like to ask but I'm afraid they may seem "noobish".

i've been reading up on the oemscan method of creating a pre-activated system. I guess I just need some clarificaiton on a few things here.

#1. Does OEMScan 1.3 run in windows so that it will auto-register a pc by replacing the oembios and 4 other brand specific files in the I386 directory? Unfournatly I have an acer system which is currently not suppored by oemscan 1.3 and the thread over on msfn is just a jumble of various posts that are hard to follow. I know you can modify the .ini to include scans for Acer I just need to know how this tool works so I can write a guide for others on this.

#2. Thank you for creating the 7z. method of adding the needed files into a windows xp disk during install. Ryanvm Intergrator works great for this, however upon creating a disk I noticed a few things that might need further configuration.

First do I need to find the royalty keys to reinstall windows on the various pc's? Or should I try the generic pre-activation key provided by microsoft first?

Secondly how do I create / modify / add a script to load the correct oembios files during install and assign it the correct key? I noticed that your intergrator add-on's use svcpack, however how do I create / modify a correct winnt.sif file for it or am I missing something. I just want to make sure that I do this correctly so windows auto assigns the correct oembios + key depending on the hardware ;)

I guess I just need some clarification on this one ;) I'm one to pick up and learn VERY quickly on something. I'd love to create a step by step guide on setting up one of these multi-oem system disks. Just point me in the right direction and I'll run head first into it sigi! ^_^

Sorry if these qusetions seem a bit noobish.

thanks in advance.

p.s. as far as add-ons for ryanvm intergrator do you have a guide or specific set of tools to create them? I'd love to make a few add-ons once I figure out a bit more of how this setup and configuration works, lemm know. ;)

As far as I know you can run it in windows and it will work. I have never tested it but according to xequter it will work.

You can try the basic key from microsoft or you can use a key from any royaly oem. But make sure it is the slp key and not the sticker key. ;)

SVCPack doesn't need winnt.sif to work. So I think it is a smart method to use.

I don't have time to go into detail about the addons yet. Your best bet is to look at the entry file in the .7z and browse RyanVM's forums for answers for now. I'll post a tutorial on how to make more of these later. ;)

Well I said I was smart and if someone handed me the keys and a direction I'd run with it ;)

I've taken a peek at your .7z files for oemscan and figured out first of all HOW to make the multi oem pre-activation disks (work great). And I've even managed to manually add the needed files to the disk to work with Acer pc's ;)

Now if I take the time I'm gonna try and make a .7z for Acer pc's ;)

I feel so special lol.

I do have a few questions though, so I'll post em in the main part of this.

Thanks again sigi ^_^ The pointers DEFINATLY helped.

When doing a regular OEM install (non-vendor) what would happen if i deleted the oembios.* files in the windows directory? Seems like i remember reading somewhere that they'll be replaced. If that's the case, it would save about 13 megs on the iso. Any thoughts?

Siginet

you can delete them... but then you are guaranteed to have to call microsoft on any non supported oems.
