[Information General]
- The batch file included with some of the packages will install the package it is included with. It allows you to change the msi installer switch (default is qn, ie quite & no window). It was modified mostly to install the Word package and the compatibility package at the same time (see more below), but you can modify it to install as many packages as you want. It was also designed to handle transform (mst) files for modifications of the installers as well.

[Information English]
- These releases are used with the default english (ENU) packages and hotfixes, for other languages see below.

- The Office Update Downloader has usually the most up-to-date hotfixes even if they are not integrated into the viewers
- The Word viewer is up-to-date, it now includes KB2543854 which is needed on Vista and newer.
- The PowerPoint viewer is up-to-date
- The Excel viewer is up-to-date
- The Visio viewer is up-to-date

Microsoft Word Viewer
- The Word viewer is still based on Word 2003 and hence needs the compatibilty pack for docx documents.
- In the downloadable package are the 2 files (wordview.msi & wordview.reg) plus a simple batch installer file. You can choose multiple ways of installing these files, installing the msi file will auto-import the reg file needed for the updates to be properly registered. You can use a Group Policy to deploy the msi and you would use Group Policy Preferences or a login script to import the reg file. I've included a small batch file that will install the Word viewer plus if you choose to install the Compatibility Pack the batch script can be easily modified to install it at the same time. The modification of the batch script shouldn't be too difficult to anyone with a decent knowledge of computers, right click the bat file and choose edit (it should open in notpad), then in the line 'InstallPackage2=NO' change that to 'InstallPackage2=YES' and put O12Conv.msi & O12Conv.reg in the same location as wordview.msi & wordview.reg.
- Depending on your requirements you may or may not want to install the Office Compatibility Pack (OCP) at the same time as the Word viewer. If the OCP has already been installed on the system there is no need to re-install it, however if the OCP isn't installed then you will want to install it at the same time, if you need to read Word 2007 docx documents.

Microsoft Excel Viewer
- The Excel viewer is based on the Office 2007 code, which is compatible with Excel 97 versions and newer.
- In the downloadable package are the 2 files (xlview.msi & xlview.reg) plus a simple batch installer file. You can choose multiple ways of installing these files, installing the msi file will auto-import the reg file needed for the updates to be properly registered. You can use a Group Policy to deploy the msi and you would use Group Policy Preferences or a login script to import the reg file. I've included a small batch file that will install the Excel viewer.
- The installation of the Compatibility Pack isn't necessary for the Excel viewer since it can read the Excel 2007 xlsx format.

Stickied.
I am still looking into the problem with the non English viewers. The same thing happens with German versions. The MSP info says it is required but the patch doesn't run. I could always add another exclusion but don't know what languages do use the offending msp and how many don't.

The Excel, Powerpoint, and Visio viewers don't have any updates
The Word needs an update which is having an issue with the OI
Benners - sent you a PM, time for #23?

Thanks TwoJ, yep another msp with the same name. It seems to be getting harder to keep track and update the OI to add exceptions. There isn't the same level of checking when building the viewers as there is with the Hotpack and they use different functions so I'll see what can be done.
